Pohnpeian culture is of clan society deeply rooted in ancient traditional practices call “Tiahk” and strongly infused with the modern way of life, simultaneously inhabiting the two different timelines in harmony. Pohnpeian culture holds many faces of history in our society, and the most important is our traditional values which included thanksgiving harvest feasts the time frame starts in September thru December, funerals execute the same practice of the thanksgiving feasts, extended family of cousins, aunts and uncles, nephews and nieces and so on and so forth, religion, marriage, medicine, folklores, dances, music, art, storytelling, cooking, sakau ceremony etiquette which is performed in all occasions of different functions, no matter the activity, sakau is the main component.
